13 Years Ago Today!

Lauren Fonvielle, Writer & Light Worker

Once upon a time, a girl met a boy at Steve-a-palooza….

It all started in April 2003.  I went to a party in Annapolis and met a cute boy.  Fast forward 2 months and we were engaged. He left for his first deployment only days after proposing.  It was a whirlwind.

When calling friends to tell them I was engaged, I got a variety of responses. Some said congratulations  to my face, while whispering is she CRAZY? She doesn’t even know him, behind my back.  I can’t say I blame them. It all happened fast. It was a lot to process! My favorite though, was Lindsay’s question: Lauren, do you even know his middle name?  My response: Linds, I’ll have to get back to you on that! LOL!

Jeremy got back from deployment 9 months later, and shortly there after we tied the knot.  The day after our wedding we packed up my Ford Taurus and headed out on a cross country adventure to our new home in San Diego.  I love to look back at the journal entries  I wrote that week leading up to our wedding. I wondered where the future would lead, where we’d be in 5, 10, and 15 years from then.  I was pretty sure we’d have at least two kids. But, I can say with confidence I did NOT think we’d be living in Delaware! Ha!

Our life has been quite the adventure with a whole lot of twists and turns.  But, I can’t imagine going on this journey with anyone else.  Jeremy, you are my person, my love, my best friend. So while we will be on opposite sides of the globe for this 13th year of marriage, I know this experience will only have us grow stronger and closer.

I’m so glad we got to celebrate this weekend!
